As part of our commitment to meeting your unique needs and desires, we offer midwifery services at several of our locations throughout the Greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
What Is a Midwife?
Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) and Certified Midwives (CMs) have received a graduate-level education in a midwifery program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME). All CNMs and CMs have passed a national certification exam.
Midwives perform many services, including:
- Routine gynecologic exams
- Prescribing birth control
- Obstetric care, including labor, delivery, and postpartum services
They can also offer post-delivery services like lactation and nutritional support. While midwives are highly trained and qualified to assist with low-risk pregnancies and births, they cannot perform cesarean sections. They are also not able to assist with pregnancies and births involving twins or other multiples.
